He Restoreth My Soul

David might probably wrote Psalm 23 after writing Psalm 51. Because he speaks about restoring of souls in Psalm 23:3, "He restoreth my soul" after committing adultery with Bath-Sheba he wrote the famous penitent Psalm 51, confessing his sins and asking God for forgiveness and restoring of his soul. After God's punishment came upon his life God did restored his soul, though he had committed iniquity before God. that's why he wrote in Psalm 23:3 "He restoreth my soul".
God is the God of restoration, we can see many passages that speaks about God's restoration work, Joel 2:25 speaks about restoration from what locusts had eaten; Jeremiah 10:17 Speaks about restoring of health; Jeremiah 27:22 Speaks about restoring of Native Land or Country; Isaiah 57:18 Speaks about restoring comfort to those who mourning; Psalms 51:12 Speaks about restoring of of the Joy of Salvation.

Restoration takes place only after repentant and confession of once sin, so the Bible said in I John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" Here in this verse we see the process of Restoration, "if we confess our sins" after confessions here comes "He is faithful and just" then "to forgive us our sins" after forgiving here comes Restoration "and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness". Thus Restoration takes place in once life, after confessing to God and coming back to God, because God is Faithful.

The best example about restoration in the Bible can be seen in the Book of Job and his own life. He was a just man and who refrain from evil  Job 1:8, though he did not sin against God, he was tested as we see in the Book of Job. But he never gave up his faith nor forsook God his Creator, Job said “ Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave,  and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD” Job 1:21. His loses were severe, all his Children, all his Servant and Slaves, all his Cattle, Flocks and  Herds, all his Possessions in that Testing or Tragedy. But this wasn’t the end of Job’s life because God is faithful so He did restored Job the Double Portion everything became Double. God gave him back new Children also seven sons and three daughters who were the most beautiful in Job’s time upon the Earth Job 42:15. According to the Bible scholars Job was Contemporary with Abraham the Father of Faith, in around 2000 B.C. In the book of James 5:11 we see the patience of Job and God’s restoration act it says “ the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy”.
In your life if you are facing loses the Lord is saying “this is the time for you to repent and come back to me that I may heal you and restore you again”. This very time if you are facing like losing everything come at the feet of Christ Jesus, Who has given us everything even His life, He will Restore you if you only come to Him with true repentant, then you will say as David said “He restoreth my soul” Psalm 23:3. The Lord bless all His Children who are in Christ Jesus.
