What the Bible said about Money

The Bible says Money as the root of all evil ( 1Timothy 6:10 ) not Branches, nor the Trunk but the Root or Origin. Most of the People thought money can make everything possible thus they pursued and have gone after money. Nowadays people determined riches by how much money or things one's possessed, but Jesus said " for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth" Luke 12:15.
We are going to see what the Bible speaks about money and what were the tragic ends of the people in the Bible when they love money more than God...? We are going to study the Biblical Characters ...Two from the Old Testament and Two from the New Testament...
From the Old Testament

1. Achan...... ( Joshua 7:20:25 )

In the life of Achan we saw the covetousness caused by the love of money and things. He coveted gold, silver and the beautiful garments when he saw them in the spoil of the City of Jericho. Joshua 7:21 " when i saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it." After being convicted he was stoned by the Israelites before God with all his house and possessions. Thus Achan's life ended because of the love of Money and Things.

2. Gehazi..... ( 2 Kings 5:20-27 )

Gehazi was a disciple to Elisha the Prophet. In this episode in 2 Kings 5:20-27 we saw that he was covetous and lying both to his master and Naaman the Syrian. He took 2 shekels of silver and tow change of cloth from Naaman which his master had sworn to God that he wouldn't take them. Lastly Elisha cursed Gehazi "The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow." 2 kings 5:27. Thus Gehazi became leper and his generation in the Israel and he died being a leper because of his covetousness and love of money.

From the New Testament

1. Judas Iscariot..... ( Matthew 26:17-27:5 )

Judas Iscariot was a disciple of Jesus Christ and also a traitor, Matthew 10:4 " and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him". The Bible says he was a bag holder or the Treasurer among the twelve disciples who followed Jesus Christ. John 12:6 "This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein." This shows that he was very much minding for the things of the world than the things of God though he followed Jesus Christ. His greediness led him to sold his Master, his Lord, his Savior and his King Jesus Christ with 30 pieces of silver to the hand of the sinners Matthew 26:15 "And they covenanted to give him for thirty pieces of silver". Later when he saw the sufferings of Jesus he repented and returned the money to the priests of the Temple, and we saw his tragic end which he committed himself, Matthew 27"5 " and he went and hanged himself". Because he loved money he killed himself that was no one in the Bible does. ( after Saul the First King of Israel )

2. Ananias and Sapphira..... ( Acts 5:1-11 )

They were couple and they lied the Holy Ghost by taking back something for themselves. Acts 5:2 "And kept back the price" In V.3 we saw that Peter said to him" why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost" They thought that they lied to men but in fact they were actually lying "unto God" Acts 5:4 After speaking of Peter Ananias fell down at Peter's feet and died Acts 5:5. Later Sapphira came without knowing her husband death and she did the same manner as her husband and lied " how it is that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord?" Acts 5:9 after hearing Peter's speech she fell down and died also Acts 5:10. Because they Love money and lied to the Holy Ghost they were dead, and became example in the Newly Founded Church of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem.

These are the Tragic end of the people who knew God but love money than God. If you are almost in this case and loving money than God... you got time to come back to seek First God's Kingdom and His Righteousness... Matthew 6:33....because the love of money is the root of all evil 1 Timothy 6:10....May the Lord bless you and give you a heart to Love Him more...
